Whether you are looking for a peaceful stroll or a more challenging hike, there are trails that suit all abilities. All the below routes are tried and tested and offer stunning views of the fells or lakes and the beautiful countryside!
Watchtree Nature Reserve is just a 15 minute drive away and a hidden gem for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Home to diverse wildlife plus scenic walking & cycling trials (around 3km circular). Enjoy lunch in the cafe or take your own and make use of the peaceful picnic spots. Watchtree is accessible to prams, wheelchairs and cyclists. Take your own bicycles or hire them from the Watchtree Wheelers. There is free parking, dogs are welcome when on a lead and any donations go towards the upkeep of the reserve.

The Latrigg Miles Without Stiles Route 38 is a gentle and 'accessible for some' walk offering breathtaking views over Keswick and Derwentwater. This well maintained path was designed with wheelchair and pram users in mind. The route takes you on a steady incline to a stunning viewpoint. At just 1 mile each way, it is the perfect choice for those looking for a short but beautiful walk. Enjoy the stunning views of a high fell walk without the challenge of a strenuous climb.

One of the most popular and rewarding walking routes in the Lake District. This is a moderate climb with some minor scrambling and is suitable for families. Starting from the Hawes End car park, the route will take approximatley 3 hours to compete at as distance of 5.7km. You will enjoy stunning panoramic views of Derwent Water, the town of Keswick and the mountains of Skiddaw & Blencathra in the distance.

A short family friendly trail leading to one of the most iconic landmarks in the Lake District. The Bowder Stone is a massive 2,000 ton boulder that rests balanced on one edge, a natural wonder that has amazed visitors for generations. Parking is available at the National Trust car Park, follow a scenic woodland trial before arriving at the immense stone. You will find a set of steps allowing you to climb to the top of the stone for a unique persepctive. An easy and exciting walk for all.

The Keswick to Threlkeld walking and cycling route is a scenic and accessible path that stretches 5km each way through the stunning Lake District countryside. Starting in Keswick at the carpark, it follows the old railway line, it is mostly flat and suitable for all including wheelchairs, pushchairs and cyclists. Along the way you will pass through tunnels, cross bridges, enjoy the beautiful scenery and the fast flowing river.

A delightful walk offering breathtaking views with stop offs at 2 iconic landmarks. Starting at Ashness Bridge car park, head up the road to Surprise View where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Derwent Water and the surrounding fells. From there continue downhill towards Lodore Falls, take in the breathtaking cascading waterfall. Then head back along the lakeshore and back up the hill to Ashness Bridge, a picturesque stone bridge. The route is a moderate 3 miles in total and you will find The Mary Mount Hotel along the route if you wish to stop for refreshments.

The Buttermere Circular Walk is a stunning 6.7km loop round the lake. This relatively easy route take around 2 hours to complete making it perfect for a family adventure. The route is mostly flat and follows a well maintained path through woodlands for the most part. There is a small section that isn't pram friendly which takes you through a tunnel and over several tree roots. You will often find Highland Cattle relaxing on the path. There is parking available in the village and public toiets however we suggest arriving early to guarantee a parking spot as this is a popular walk. In the village you will find a pub and cafe for refreshments.

This National Trust walk is a scenic and moderatley easy trail that takes you through woodland to the impressive Aira Force waterfall. The route is approximatley 1.5 miles long and takes about an hour to complete, making it suitable for most. The path includes some steps and uneven terrain but it is well maintained. Parking is available in the National Trust car park with toilets and a cafe located there too.

Sharp Edge is one of the most thrilling and exposed ridges in the Lake District for experienced hikers. Sharp Edge leads to the summit of Blencathra and on a clear day the views are breathtaking. If you are tackling Sharp Edge, esnure you are well prepared as this isn't for the faint hearted and weather conditions can be interesting.

A hidden gem offering a easy yet rewarding walk. Located above Rydal Water, these man made caves were once part of a slate quarry. The largest cave is particulary impressive with a stepping stone path leading you right inside. You might even spot tiny fish or ducks enjoying the still water.
Helvellyn is one of the most iconic mountains in the Lake District. Famous for its dramatic ridges, Striding Edge & Swirral Edge, the climb to the summit is a challenge even for experinced hikers. On a clear day enjoy views down to Ullswater. Wether you tackle the famous ridges or take a steadier route, Helvellyn is an unforgettable experience.

An easy Wainright to tick off the list, perfect for families with young children or for those that want the paranomic views without a strenuous climb of the higher fells. A short hike to the summit and then enjoy breathtaking views of the Solway Firth, Scottish hills are surrounding Lakeland fells. It can get a bit windy up there, but there is a small shelter to enjoy your picnic in!
